Inhalt

The course is dedicated to the study of numerical methods for Partial Differential Equations. The main topics will be the classification of PDEs, the Finite Difference method, the Finite Elements method for parabolic problems, the Finite Volumes method for hyperbolic problems.

Lernziele

The students will gain knowledge of the basic concepts, algorithms and methods for the solution of PDEs. They will acquire the ability to use their knowledge to develop, analyze and implement methods to solve application-oriented problems efficiently and accurately.

Vorkenntnisse

Numerische Mathematik 1, Numerische Mathematik 2 and some programming skills. The lecture PDEMAS is not required and there is no excessive overlap to the topics of this course.
